Watch: A Conversation on Racism and the Church
I go to church in Seattle’s Capitol Hill neighborhood; our office is a few blocks from the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ) where 10 days of protests were centered outside the Seattle Police East Precinct. We are in the heart of the city, and the conversation around the church’s role in restorative justice work needs to be front and center in the weeks following the killing of George Floyd.
I sat down with both of our pastors, one black and one white, to talk about the barriers that have prevented Christians from having discussions about racism in the church until now—and a vision for a way forward.
